New Sony Bravia Televisions Available With 500 Gig Hard Drives

It’s not just the storage, either–it’s the sheer utility that makes this set of Sony Bravias worth looking at. You’ll not only have the internal 500 gig drive, but you’ll also be able to transfer data both to and from external hard drives, extending your storage capacity to theoretical infinity…or the limits of your wallet, at any rate. That 500 gig, meanwhile, is set to give you fully 65 hours of high-definition recording.

It’s a pretty solid idea, mounting internal DVR technology to a television, and chances are we’ll likely see more televisions capable of storing their own programming the farther we get down the trail. Though I don’t look for too many early adopters at those prices, especially given what DVRs and external hard drives are currently selling for.

LCD and OLED

LCD vs LED Technology

LED is a new technology in TVs and Computer Monitors and distinctly different from LCD or TFT. LCD requires a backlight, LED does not. LCD uses silicon-based devices, LED uses organic plastic-based devices. LCD has low contrast, LED has very high contrast. LCD is now very old technology and will be replaced by the new organic LED quite quickly over next few years.

http://vtcdn.com/sites/default/files/images/2007/10/15/oled-1.jpg

What is an OLED?
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) is a flat display technology, made by placing a series of organic thin films between two conductors. When electrical current is applied, a bright light is emitted. Because OLEDs produce (emit) light they do not require a backlight. This means that OLEDs can be made very thin and very power efficient when compared to LCD (which do require a white backlight).

OLEDs vs LCDs

OLEDs have the following advantages over today's flat-panel tech (LCD or plasma):
  • Low power consumption - OLEDs are a far better choice for portable devices. It also makes OLEDs much more environmental friendly, and a candidate to be the white-light "bulb" of the future
  • Faster refresh rate and better contrast.
  • Greater brightness - The screens are brighter, and have a fuller viewing angle.
  • Exciting displays - new types of displays, that we do not have today, like ultra-thin, flexible or transparent displays.
  • Better durability - OLEDs are very durable and can operate in a broader temperature range.
  • Lighter weight - the screen can be made very thin, and can even be 'printed' on flexible surfaces.

Samsung LCD 32-inch Unboxing

What I like: There is no movement blur (although it sometimes feels a little "off" frames which are extinct), SD looks better than I thought it would, beautiful picture of the DVD pretty color, nice looking TV.

http://p.vatgia.vn/ir/pictures_fullsize/0/end0MTMwMTk5ODE2OS5qcGc-/samsung-ln32b460.jpg

What I don't like : Viewing angle is not good at all if you move only one step away from the center, the picture begins to wash. Black is not deep enough for my taste, if you change the settings so they are, then the entire picture is just not bright enough. Also, I do not know what is the right word, but the picture as a whole just seems a little lower RES when close screen (3 meters) on the whole picture looks kind of "champagne", and there was heat haze to it. Higher rates of SD .... Maybe this is just a way LCDs look? It considers pixelation?

Apple is planning to release an Apple LCD LCD HDTV

Now wouldn’t that be something! HDTV is a very lucrative business indeed with an estimated value of $100 Billion a year. It has long been expected that Apple  would enter the HDTV sector because of their powerful ecosystem, advanced technology, design savvy nature and really powerful brand recognition. All of this coupled with their marketing expertise and experience gained from their successes in the cellphone and tablet sector could make Apple a powerful force in the TV world

http://cdn.shoutpedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/apple-lcd-hdtv.png

It was earlier reported that Apple had used Close to $4 Billion of their cash reserves to secure components, which people thought were probably for iPads and iPhones, but it is now believed that they could be for HDTV production. These speculations gained momentum when “data points” were picked up at a Chinese electronics trade show being held this week.

Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White has issued a research note discussing the possibility of Apple releasing a “Smart TV” he said:

” The research suggests this Smart TV would go well beyond the miniature $99 second-generation Apple TV that the company released last fall and provide a full-blown TV product for consumers. Although Apple has long been projected by company watchers to enter the HDTV market, the Mac maker now appears to be “moving down this pace at a faster pace than the market expected.”

It is rumoured that if it gets made, it would have the characteristic Apple sleek design, a Retina like display quality along with rich internet and social media integration all rolled in a reasonably priced package.

Stay tuned for more.

Samsung UE40B7020 LED TV Review From The Experts

Super-slim good looks; fine specification; effective LED backlighting; composed, absorbing pictures from all sources
TV pictures enjoy great stability, generally low noise and notable depth of field. Motion is mostly smooth, colours are of the rich-but-not-too-vivid variety and black levels are impressive. The LED backlighting makes for a pitch-black screen when idling, with strong and convincing contrasts when not.

Up the quality to DVD and the good news keeps coming. Picture noise is suppressed mercilessly, colours – skin-tones especially – are agreeable and levels of black detail are a match for the best screens in this sector. Motion, too, is smooth and credible.
t's not without flaws: sound is no great shakes, being as it is fairly captive and predictably lightweight, and poorer-quality TV broadcasts are done no favours at all by the '7020. But overall this is a hugely impressive TV, doubly so considering it hardly exists in the third dimension at all.
