LCD TV Reviews - LCD TV LG LE5500 Series

LG LE5500 is the latest TV to lead the market, offers an impressive range of features including full 1080p high-definition display and 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio - this TV has some type of (22 ", 26", 32 ", 37", 42 ", 47 ", 55") but whether it can win the competition?

With LED LCD televisions is very important to keep in mind that LCD TVs use LED backlights instead of traditional fluorescent tube. The panel remains the same and still use liquid crystal diode technology in which the crystal is 'twisted' to regulate the amount of light through the screen.

LE5500 rose wood in color, which tends to work well in more traditional homes but can not be a true cutting edge chrome and black style to suit the family room is very modern. Television is a shallow 1.2 inches in depth and weighs about 65 pounds (about 30 kg's) without brackets. By standing the screen can rotate to 40 degrees, 20 degrees either side of center.

The panel where the lights dimming feature bright or dim automatically to prevent the light emitted and increase the black level. Not surprisingly then, the unit performed very well and black LED potentially better than some of the plasma on the market today.

LEDs use more power-efficient than fluorescent tubes, which is great news for green consumers and their electricity bills. This unit also features other power-saving options including smart sensor that adjusts the color and brightness of the display automatically lights in the room changes and the ability to disable the screen while listening to music.

LCD TV LG LE5500 has TruMotion 240Hz technology, provides a very fast refresh rates for sports look that looks great. However, it does require adjustment of some motion blur and judder settings to get it at the optimum level of good for a fan / AV but perhaps a bit too technical for the average consumer looking for the finished product out of the box.

When it comes to connectivity, the tv has imput that is not so different from the others, with four HDMI ports, two component ports, USB 2.0 access and 15-pin computer input. For sound, the unit is equipped with two 15 watt speakers that emit a loud voice a little, but not more than that given to the competitors.

Unfortunately there is no direct remote control buttons to change TruMotion feature on or off, which can mean trouble as you switch between sport and look normal.

LE5500 tLG impressive in terms of color rendition, with a color depth of the total area. Good point of view, without degradation in contrast to 45 degrees from center.

The panel features wireless connectivity with video sites including YouTube and Netflix and comes integrated Skype, which means you can make free calls to anywhere in the world without a PC.

With a competitive price range LG LE5500 is an excellent product with great black levels and connectivity of the internet that most consumers will really enjoy. Although not sophisticated, it is definitely suitable for the average consumer and slightly better than his closest rival, Samsung UN55C6500 LED TV or Sharp LC-52LE820U.

Samsung UN55C9000 Review LED HDTV Television

The UNC9000 series is the top of the line from Samsung for 2010 – the most expensive and feature laden TV they make. The plethora of features includes 3D TV ready, wifi ready, super thin frame, extremely beautiful aesthetic appeal, Samsung's excellent Internet Apps choices, 240Hz refresh rate processing speed, A 2D to 3D conversion system, and a super cool touch screen remote control. Of course, these features build on many past features that are also present on this TV, such as the menu system introduced last year. But what are the drawbacks? How do these features perform? Is the contrast all that Samsung claims? And how does the TV fit into the value picture?

HD Picture Quality: First off, know that the 120Hz and 240Hz feature on the Samsung LED TVs have been greatly improved from the first edition. The feature is intended to reduce judder and smooth out the picture from that annoying jerky effect. But there are side effects. The kitchy cardboard cutout effect that we experienced on prior models stubbornly remains. The effect is due to removal of natural background blur with film based content. The effect can be distracting and unnatural especially at first. But thankfully, one can just turn this feature off. Turning it off will cause the jerky judder to return, but this is probably best for movies and TV programming. For sports programming, we recommend using the feature. To adjust: Click Menu/picture/Scroll down to Picture Options/Press enter/Scroll down to AutoMotionPlus 240Hz/Press Enter/Scroll or press to Off position.
Samsung UN55C9000 Picture Settings
Picture Mode: Movie
Color Temp: Warm 2
Brightness: 44
Contrast: 93
Color: 43
Tint: G47/R53
Sharpness: 10
Backlight: 7
Picture Settings
Black Tone: Off
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Gamma: 0
Flesh Tone: Off
Edge Enhancement: Off
Digital NR: Auto
HDMI Black Level: Low
Film Mode: Auto 1
Color Filter: Off

Once this is accomplished how is the picture? Vibrant. The picture is super color saturated and bright with powerful lighting while maintaining good saturation in blacks. Blue tones from the LED edge lighting are slightly oversaturated in the C9000 as is overall saturation. Click on our Picture Settings here to see our recommendations on how to calibrate. Two of the rumored and real flaws of edge lit LED are uneven lighting or backlighting and side angle viewing contrast degradation. The uneven lighting issue is nearly non-existent on the UN55C9000. With all lights off and a solid blue screen we could note some variation, however once a movie is playing on the TV, signs of this issue are unnoticeable. Side angle viewing is an issue with all TVs except plasma TVs which have individually lit phosphor cells. We felt side angle viewing on the C9000 is above average at around 30 degrees off center before noticing a slight decrease in contrast. The TV performed better than the C7000 series in this regard probably due to the Mega Dynamic Contrast technology included on this TV.

Vizio VF552XVT LCD/LED TV

Model: Vizio VF552XVT
Description: 55" LED LCD TV
Resolution: 1920 X 1080
Power Consumption: 150W
Reviewer: Robert Wiley
Summer 2010
While Vizio often promotes itself as "America's #1 LCD HDTV Company," we are quick to point out that this is sometimes the case with unit sales of LCD TVs, but not total revenues. The reason for the difference is that many of Vizio's top selling models are very small inexpensive TVs. Within the 55" LCD category the company faces some tough competition.
The new VF552XVT from Vizio has the latest and greatest features that the company hopes will keep Vizio competing with the Tier 1 manufacturers. This series has LED local dimming backlighting, a 240Hz refresh rate (listed as 480Hz but that is back light manipulated spec), and a new black drive system. And this model also contains a new Bluetooth remote control and Internet functionality options. This is the second tier feature and price offering from Vizio for 2010/2011, the XVT Pro series Vizios are the step up from the XVT series.
HQV Processor Testing: Internal video boards are strong on the VF552XVT. We were impressed with the processors ability to smooth out distortion and prevent moire' patterns. See testing results here.
HD Picture Quality: The two problems that we had with viewing content from HD sources was 1) the picture presentation was overly dark (post calibration), causing dark areas in dark scenes to run to black with no definition and 2) image edges were continually blurry which surprised us considering the inbuilt processors. This occurred no matter what back light setting we used. Judder and jerky side to side panning were problems when turning off the Smooth Motion feature but worth keeping it off in general. The negative effects from the TVs elimination of natural background blur are the problem with the 240Hz feature. See below 240Hz rate feature evaluation. The LED backlighting occasionally introduced some negative effects by reducing shadow detail in the top corners of some scenes.
Black Level/Contrast Ratio: Black levels appear saturated and sometimes take out shadow detail or take the color out of a dark hue. Occasionally, blacks take on a dark charcoal appearance.
480i Video Content (cable, DVD): Picture quality from 480i and similar resolution appeared soft and blurry around the edges as did all content on this HDTV. HQV processor testing yielded very good results for the XVT series indicating an excellent internal chip set. There was no banding or mapping apparent. There was judder and jerkiness in many scenes both in 480i and HD from side to side panning as we were forced to turn off the Smooth Motion 240/480Hz rate feature due to unwelcome background information.

Why Not Have Your Own LCD TV Cinema At Home

Read one persons personal journey of discovering their own personal home cinema.

LCD TV - Cinema at Home For a Budget Price

I have been saving for almost a year now to buy a LCD TV along with a home theatre system. My idea of relaxing and de-stressing is watching a good movie. Nothing can be better than watching a movie of your choice comfortably at home on your favorite couch.
A year back when I really wanted to buy a LCD TV the price was well beyond my budget and a luxury for someone who had just started working. But in a last couple of months when my hunt for a good bargain with a renowned brand name and affordable price started again, I realized that the prices seem to have come down considerably. With reduced prices LCD TV has been giving tough competition to plasma TV and has even overtaken them in many international markets.
The LCD stands for liquid crystal display. There are liquid crystals pressed between two glasses, which is electrically charged to form an image.
